Let it Go

I stopped writing my werewolf story. I hated writing it, it made my OCD worse, and I realized that it wasn't going to be a "Sin" story. It might have been a good story, but my voice wouldn't have been in it. Never say that giving up makes you a loser. Some things should be given up. There is nothing noble about completing something that makes you miserable, that you will get no joy out of, just to say you did it. If you need to feed your family, or keep a roof over your head, that's noble. Life is suffering, that doesn't mean we have to go out of our way to create it. (There's lots of good stuff in life too, the word suffering doesn't mean everything in life sucks).

So I'm going to go back to "Bad Boy". I miss the novella, and I love the characters. That's another thing about the werewolf story, I loved the main characters, but it wasn't where they were supposed to be. That made it hard to get to know them, and it took tremendous effort to move the plot foreword. It took me so long to realize I should give up, that it isn't going to be an easy road back. I don't even remember how to enjoy writing any more. My brain is fried, and it needs time to heal.

On a happier note, there's still time to enter my Grand Contest! I realize that the picture I included wasn't the best. You can't really see Ranma and, given that a lot of Kishidan members have similar hairstyles, it makes it hard to know who to look for. So here's a better picture. Enjoy : )

Terrific post. You've captured my own ennui. Maybe there's something going around. (:>)

I agree that sometimes you're just not meant to write certain stories.

Write what you want to write! If you want to come back to the werewolf story at some point, it'll still be there.

Excellent advice, plus yeah, back to the novella so that you can find a publisher and I can buy it. Thank you.

I tried to find a picture that you wouldn't have seen but Google images didn't have many at all. :(

Yeah, I've been there. It's hard to give it up, but there are just some that let us know we have to let them go, huh?

I'm GOING to find a picture, dammit. I need that book!

I am currently in the process of relocating 6 characters from a novel I killed off last year into a new WIP. They seem to belong here better. I know the feeling...but hard choices usually pay off in the end.
